Neon Abyss 2 bosses, routes and unlock chains
Neon Abyss 2 boss routes and unlock chains: Trojan, Talos, Apollo, Eris, Dark Eris, Hyperion, Hermes and the DLC route — with requirements for each.
Bosses unlock in chains, not checklists: beat Trojan to meet Talos, beat Talos to meet Apollo, carry a Faith bar into the Apollo fight to reach Eris — then Dark Eris, Hyperion and Hermes follow the same defeat-one, meet-the-next pattern.
How boss progression actually works
Neon Abyss 2 bosses unlock in chains, not checklists. Each time you defeat a manager-grade boss for the first time, a new encounter becomes available in your next run — and some links in the chain have extra conditions on top, usually about your Faith bar or your Hatchmon count.
Regular gods show up as floor bosses during a run. Managers are the heavyweights you reach at the end of a route: after a run's last normal floor you return to the safehouse and choose a portal, and some portals only open when you meet their condition. If a door refuses to unlock, it is almost always one of the requirements below.
The main chain
| Boss | How to reach them |
|---|---|
| Trojan — God of Hackers | The first manager you meet (floor five). Beating him once is the gate for what follows. |
| Talos — God of AI | Defeat Trojan, then start a new run. Once both are unlocked, floor five can rotate between Talos and Trojan. |
| Apollo — God of EDM | Defeat Talos, then start a new run. |
| Eris — Goddess of Psychedelia | Defeat Apollo while a Faith bar is active (don't cash your faith in at a temple before the Apollo fight). |
| Dark Eris | Beat regular Eris first. You also need the Psychedelism faith unlocked at the bar, and the Acid Token — collected before the Eris floor. See the walkthrough below. |
| Hyperion — God of Entertainment | Defeat Dark Eris at least once. In new runs, take the regular Eris route — beating Dark Eris ends the run instead of continuing. |
| Hermes — God of Messages | Defeat Hyperion, then enter Hermes' green portal in the safehouse. |
| Aphrodite — Goddess of Seduction | Regular god encounter on the route. |
| Dark Aphrodite | Unlocked by defeating regular Aphrodite. Her fight carries an extra challenge: defeat Hermes to enter the next floor while keeping at least 10 Hatchmons. |
| Athena — Goddess of Wisdom (Archenemy Returns DLC) | Defeat Zeus; Athena is encountered on the floor after defeating Zeus. |
| Prometheus | The route continues past Athena — clear her and the path to Prometheus opens. |
| Theia — Goddess of Vanity | The new 1.0 Titan. Titan Group's Chief Brand Officer, and the current end of what you can prove you have beaten. |
| Dark Zeus | A time-gated challenge: enter within 30 minutes of active playtime (pauses and loading no longer count, per the 1.0 fix). |
Getting the Acid Token (Dark Eris walkthrough)
The step everyone gets stuck on:
- Unlock the Psychedelism faith at the bar and fill its Faith meter during a run.
- Enter the Psychedelism temple when it opens. You get a short window to watch items swapping in windows — memorize what you see.
- Everything turns into butterflies. The Acid Token is the one inside the butterfly holding that token — grab it before touching anything you don't need, because most butterflies hurt you and you should arrive with healthy hearts to spare.
- Pick the token up before you reach the Eris floor — after that, it does not count.
The community's advice is unanimous: practice the butterfly room until you can cross it without losing half your health.
Faith is a boss key, not just a buff
Several unlocks above are gated by having a Faith bar alive at the right moment. The pattern: pick up a faith right before the Apollo fight, don't visit that floor's temple, and carry the live bar into the boss. The run then continues to the next encounter instead of ending at the floor. If Eris or Dark Eris "isn't showing up", nine times out of ten this is the reason.
FAQs
- "I beat Trojan but Talos never appears." Check a new run — unlocks apply from the next run, not mid-run.
- "Does difficulty matter for the chain?" The chain is driven by first-time kills; higher difficulty is optional for the unlocks above.
- "Which boss should I practice first?" Whatever your Agent profile says you die to — the 1.0 profiles keep a per-agent boss kill record; use it as a to-do list.
Bosses now only drop items that directly boost agent attributes (damage, speed, range, projectile count, heart containers), so time your routes to fight one right before a manager portal.
