Quick answer

Three default-branch updates landed within eight days of launch — October 10, 13 and 16 — covering co-op interactions, save recovery, combat and quality-of-life changes like a one-second dismantle hold and a tutorial skip. Finish your current run before you update.

What has changed since launch

Neon Abyss 2 shipped on October 8, 2026, and three default-branch updates followed within eight days: October 10, 13 and 16. Veewo published them as one roundup on October 18. They are quality-of-life, co-op, save and combat fixes, not new content — Theia, Storm Breach and the 1.0 systems were in the launch build.

Finish your current run before you update — updating mid-run can break an in-progress save.

Quality of life

  • Dismantling weapons and items is now a one-second hold instead of two, and item pickup banners clear faster.
  • Tutorial skip. Once one save has finished the tutorial, other saves can skip it.
  • Abandoning a run from the main menu now asks for confirmation before it sends you back to the bar.
  • The safehouse has an exit that ends the run when every boss portal is locked, and the in-run timer pauses inside the safehouse — so portals no longer time out while you wait.
  • Scream Soda's cooldown dropped from 3 seconds to 1.
  • Supported 16:10 resolutions are back, and the save-selection screen lays out properly on narrow displays.
  • Entering the bar no longer runs a network speed check. The bar HUD was tidied too, and the countdown and red warning stay hidden while Dark Zeus is locked.

Achievements and agents

Clearing the game with different agents now counts toward its achievement at three agents instead of ten. It also fixed incomplete progress tracking and counted clears you had already banked, so a goal you gave up on may already be done.

Co-op fixes

Four-player runs carried most of the October 13 and 16 notes:

  • Faith and dice machines: simultaneous use by several players no longer breaks either one, and a failed dice attempt stops consuming coins, keys and free unlocks.
  • Doors: key and crystal consumption is consistent when two players try to unlock the same door, and host and client no longer disagree about a door's state.
  • Shops: duplicate purchases of one item and mismatched restock states are fixed.
  • Reconnecting: your floor number now matches the host's after a reconnect in Classic Mode, and items, skills and stats restore fully. The host is no longer assigned the wrong P1/P2 identity in the bar.
  • Minigames: every player uses the host's difficulty settings for each round, and Hexjar minigame rooms no longer linger on the map after everyone leaves.

Saves, tasks and run progression

  • A corrupted Steam save could trap you in a retry loop and keep you out of the game. That is fixed; where recovery is not possible, the game now lets you delete the affected local save slot and start over.
  • Fixed a potential crash when loading a save or continuing a run, save-recovery failures, and save notifications that stayed on screen after a failed save.
  • Boss objectives restore correctly in older saves. The Dance Party task pays the right amount again. A dialogue display error that blocked the tutorial is fixed.
  • Old encounters no longer trigger completion after you die and return to the bar, and the portal that ends a run no longer dumps you on the next floor after a weapon-upgrade room.

Interface and rooms

Small fixes that show up every run: the map's close button stays on screen, the emote wheel's clickable area matches what you see, duplicate Hatchmon counts are gone from the stats page, and getting stuck on terrain or wrong doors in some trap rooms is fixed.

How to switch to the beta branch

Steam Library → Neon Abyss 2 → right-click → Properties → Betas → Beta (no password needed). Players on different branches cannot play co-op together, because the versions differ.
